This subject is designed to promote the skills necessary as a research or professional chemist whilst consolidating and enhancing the students' underpinning knowledge base. Students will select an area of topical chemistry research, students will identify, understand and critically analyze the scientific literature of this area. Students will be exposed to the peer-review process, and develop an understanding of the indicators and attributes for quality research publications, relevant to chemistry. Students will develop written and oral skills for effective communication of key concepts, techniques, and research status associated with the selected research topic for a variety of forums.

  • 20 hours - This includes the time to prepare and present an oral presentation on the research topic
  • 110 hours - This is a literature review of a chemistry research topic. There are no lectures, tutorials etc.
    Assessment:essays (70%); this is an oral presentation on the research topic (30%).
