This subject provides an introduction to the discipline of finance and the practice of corporate financial management. Topics include the time value of money, risk and return, cost of capital,capital structure, capital budgeting and short term financial management.

Learning Outcomes

• appreciate the financial dimensions of corporate, business, and personal investment and financing decisions;
• analyse and evaluate a range of financial investment options;
• understand, calculate and apply the cost of capital;
• evaluate capital structure alternatives and apply financial decision criteria to financing and dividend decisions.
