This subject examines the principles and practices of sports training and rehabilitation and the role that the sport and exercise scientist plays in the injury prevention and injury rehabilitation process. Topics include factors contributing to sports injury; injury prevention techniques including stretching, taping and massage; sports injuries and the associated management and treatment modalities; designing programs to prevent and rehabilitate sports injuries.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate broad and coherent theoretical and technical knowledge and skills associated with the role of the sport and exercise scientist in sports training and rehabilitation, with depth in the underlying principles and concepts of injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation;
- Review, synthesize and apply evidence in injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation to athletic populations;
- Communicate clearly and coherently through will developed english language proficiency.
