An independent study and/or research devoted to a topic not available through structured coursework. The subject is to be developed in consultation with a member of staff from the College of Science and Engineering and the student's course coordinator. To enrol in this subject student's should (1) attain approval from a research supervisor (usually an academic or research staff member in the College), (2) identify a project, and (3) send written confirmation from supervisor to the enrolment team and / or their course coordinator.
Learning Outcomes
- plan, conduct and manage research in their discipline;
- formulate and solve research problems;
- critically evaluate theoretical concepts in a range of topics which give background to the research;
- prepare and present written technical reports and/or oral presentations for a specialist audience.
