Psychology as a discipline and a profession is firmly founded upon the model of the scientist/practitioner. This subject will further define the underpinning ethical considerations in light of an examination of the evidence base for psychological practice. The ethics component of this subject will address ethical issues relevant to professional practice as a psychologist, including the role of ethical behaviour, codes of ethics and competencies specified by the Australian Psychological Society. The professional and evidence based practice component of this subject will prepare students for transition into the work environment, through the development of core capabilities associated with practice in the profession.
Learning Outcomes
- apply the principles of evidence based practice and critical analysis to psychological practice and processes;
- integrate and apply knowledge of ethics underpinning psychological practice;
- demonstrate proficiency with AHPRA core capabilities and attributes relevant to practice in the profession.
