Available to psychology students who have completed three years of study and who have been accepted into the Graduate Diploma of Psychology. Except with the approval of the Head of Academic Group, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive teaching periods.
Students are required as a small group to conduct an independent research project that culminates in a thesis. This subject involves regular meetings with a research supervisor throughout the course of the year; participation in professional orientation and development seminars and the presentation of a paper based on the students' research at an annual mini-conference.
Learning Outcomes
- exercise critical thinking and judgement in the design and conduct of scientific investigations to address psychological question;
- communicate a clear, coherent and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas through well- developed written and spoken English language skills;
- use information technologies and appropriate techniques to analyse, interpret, and report research findings and data and generate solutions to problems in psychology as evidenced by conducting a group research project under the supervision of a member of staff.
