This subject provides international students who are currently enrolled in an equivalent overseas health profession bachelor program to undertake a supervised clinical placement in a James Cook University facility. Students should be nearing completion of their domestic program and will be required to provide evidence of their skill and knowledge base and English language competency before admission to the subject. Clinical experience may be be gained in a specific area of health practice or provide general experience. Students will experience the application of evidence based practice in an Australian context.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate high level understanding of the biomedical and psychosocial underpinnings of disease, illness and injury;
- Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in the clinical setting with all members of the clinical team;
- Demonstrate exemplary professional conduct in clinical situations, including awareness and adherence to Australian ethical standards and the professional code of conduct;
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to safely and competently plan and perform assessment, intervention and evaluation processes in their given profession.
Prerequisites: | Students must provide evidence of completion of adequate pre-clinical and clinical training and English language competence before admission to this subject. |
