<p>The aim of this subject is for participants to gain knowledge in clinical teaching and use specific strategies related to Nursing and Midwifery contexts. It is envisaged that undertaking this subject will contribute to the professional development, knowledge base and performance of those involved in clinical teaching. Specifically participants will develop a personal teaching portfolio, engage in reflective practice and explore clinical teaching techniques to facilitate learning. Managing the learner within the clinical context will be explored and participants will have the opportunity to design, implement and evaluate a clinical teaching assessment tool which they will then use to evaluate their clinical teaching sessions and capability.</p>

<li>describe clinical teaching and the role of the clinical teacher; </li>
<li>prepare a teaching portfolio and reflect on their professional development in clinical teaching; </li>
<li>examine strategies to facilitate learning in the clinical setting and manage challenging teaching and learning situations; </li>
<li>discuss assessment, feedback and evaluation in relation to clinical teaching; </li>
<li>design an evaluation tool to utilise in clinical teaching and evaluate a clinical teaching experience. </li>
