This subject provides an introduction to key theories and concepts applicable to health professional education including adult learning, experiential learning, scaffolding, and active learning. Students will learn how to plan an effective learning session and to apply best practice educator knowledge and skills to education sessions.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply and discuss a range of education theories, concepts and strategies relevant to teaching and learning in the health context;
- Plan teaching for adult learning in a clinical context;
- Develop a lesson plan for adult education;
- Apply principles of evaluation as part of a quality improvement cycle;
- Reflect on and describe a personal teaching philosophy.
