This subject aims to introduce health care professionals to the process of building a portfolio in the context of continuing professional development requirements. As registered health care professionals, students will explore topics including learning styles and reflective practice as a basis for life-long learning guided by professional standards. Throughout the subject, students will compile their own professional portfolio based on subject content applied to their practice area.
Learning Outcomes
- distinguish between the different types and purposes of professional portfolios;
- analyse the role of continuing professional development, life-long learning, and critical reflexivity in developing safe, appropriate and responsive practice;
- identify their learning needs based on an evaluation of their practice against recognised professional standards;
- apply the principles of portfolio development to construct their professional portfolio to demonstrate their professional practice adheres to relevant professional standards.
