This subject is focused on the challenges of midwifery and health care provision in rural and remote areas of Queensland and the health professional's role in providing advice, care and support in culturally considerate ways according to a public health agenda. It endeavours to recognise and address the challenges midwifery service providers face when they engage in autonomous and collaborative practice models, designed to enhance informed decision-making and choices and positively impact on health outcomes for individuals and society.
