This subject extends the principles of patient assessment to include the utilisation of data in planning care for the patient using a person centered approach. Infection control principles are introduced in the context of asepsis and wound management. Quality use of medicines is emphasised with a focus on medication calculation and safety.
Learning Outcomes
- apply principles of person centered care in the provision of basic nursing care across the lifespan;
- accurately perform a systems based health assessment;
- utilise assessment data to identify, plan and review nursing interventions;
- demonstrate practical application of principles of asepsis, wound management and safe medication administration;
- apply the Registered Nurse standards for practice in the provision of evidenced based nursing care at a beginning level.
