This subject is designed to provide students with a sound working knowledge of theories and philosophies relevant to Creative Arts. The subject aims to build understandings of theoretical perspectives regarding aesthetics and value of the arts through weekly lectures, readings and tutorials sessions. Weekly tutorials engage students in discussions about Contemporary Arts in terms of aesthetics, form, content, context and ideology.
Learning Outcomes
- describe the history and theories underpinning creative arts practice since the advent of Modernism and with a focus on the Contemporary Arts;
- examine theories that describe normative theories of the Arts;
- describe the aesthetic qualities of creative works;
- structure concise, descriptive and analytical oral and written arguments about creative works and the meaning and value of the Arts.
