This subject introduces the key design principles, typography and effective visualisation and communication through design, thereby providing students with fundamental design skills in the area of visual communication design/graphic design. Students use a range of digital tools to develop creative strategies and produce original and practice-relevant design work. The subject places the design process in context of design history, design methods and contemporary professional practice providing students with the essential understanding and skills applicable to a range of design areas and everyday life.
Learning Outcomes
- critique individual design projects for their aesthetic and functional effectiveness;
- explain the relationship between design elements and effective visualisation and communication;
- apply the fundamental principles of media design;
- demonstrate the use the appropriate language of visual communication.
