This module focuses on the development of participants' clinical knowledge and skills in the management of chronic oedema and lymphoedema in rural generalist practice. Participants will develop skills in assessment, prescription, fitting and monitoring of compression garments for clients with stabilised chronic oedema and lymphoedema. Participants will also develop an understanding of risk assessment and referral pathways to expert service providers. The module requires participants to be enrolled in the Queensland Health Allied Health Professions Compression Garment Selection, Fitting and Monitoring Education Program and to have access to an lymphoedema therapist* who can act as mentor and supervise the final assessment task. Supervision can take place in person or via video link. *Holders of Level 1 Lymphoedema Training Certificate accredited by the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) or eligibility to register on the National Lymphoedema Practitioner Register (NLPR) as category one.
