This module has been developed specifically for allied health professionals in the following professions: " Dietetics " Occupational Therapy " Pharmacy " Physiotherapy " Podiatry " Speech Pathology
This module provides participants with the opportunity to gain a solid understanding of health service provision for older persons living in rural and remote communities. Participants will be guided through the process of assessment and intervention planning for an older person within the context of their own practice. Inter-professional implications for rural and remote service delivery will be explored.
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the impact of biological ageing (normal ageing) and the subsequent conditions that may arise for an older person living in a rural or remote community;
- Demonstrate knowledge of best practice in the assessment and management of various conditions related to normal ageing;
- Design an evidence-based intervention plan for an older person living in a rural or remote context, taking into consideration the availability of local resources and support networks.
