This subject is part of a two-year Honours course that includes the normal requirements of the parallel pass degree subjects. It will therefore achieve in students a high level of integration between the basic medical sciences and the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for clinical health care during six six-week rotations in various clinical health care settings. Students enrolled in this subject will undertake an additional research task that comprises a detailed exploration of a selected research topic. Students will be required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how basic medical and social sciences impact on clinical medical care and to identify potential research questions.

  • 100 hours lectures - Introductory sessions for each clinical rotation including WOY presentations
  • 15 hours tutorials - Clinical tutorials for each clinical rotation studied
  • 20 hours workshops/Seminars - Introductory sessions related to research i.e research methodology, data analysis, literature search and appraisal, and planning
  • 1200 hours clinical placement
Assessment:integrated assessment across subject chain (%).
Special Assessment Requirements:Satisfactory attendance is required at community and clinical placements. Satisfactory academic and professional standards, as described in the College program Assessment Guidelines, must be achieved in order to progress to the next year. The Honours program includes a Clinical Project Proposal, Entry Seminar, & Lit review.
