This subject is available to students who are currently enrolled in an international medical or physician assistant degree program undertaking a clinical placement under an exchange agreement with JCU approved by Head of School or delegate.
This subject is for students who are in the final year/s of a medicine or physician assistant degree program and who complete a clinical placement exchange in a health facility that is affiliated with JCU. Students will continue to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes required for clinical health care while immersed in the clinical health care setting. The content of the subject is in the context of a clinical placement as per a student individual learning plan.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrated ability to apply knowledge, skills and attitudes to conduct clinical examinations, take focussed patient history, make diagnosis, and generate a management plan in response to patient contexts;
- demonstrated skills of listening, sharing and responding to clearly, sensitively and effectively to communicate with patients and their families and other health professionals;
- apply knowledge and understanding of systems or provision of health care in a culturally diverse society;
- acquire knowledge and understanding of the health of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia.
