General English Level 2/EAP Level 1 is designed to help students to continue to develop their ability in English, moving from more familiar to unfamiliar topics, and from general topics to more academic content. At the end of the course, students will have the English level needed to proceed to EAP 2.

Learning Outcomes

• be able to speak logically and clearly on a variety of topics in an organised and confident manner;
• to understand and synthesise spoken and written input;
• be able to produce cohesive written work on relevant topics using appropriate academic vocabulary;
• to read extensively and critically on general and academic topics;
• be able to summarise and paraphrase texts using complex and compound sentences.

Prerequisites:

Students of non-English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity as assessed at the admission to their course.
