This subject is designed to provide students with basic mathematical knowledge and skills that will equip them for their university level studies. The subject covers the concepts on basic arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, and coordinates geometry.
Learning Outcomes
- compute HCF, LCM, prime factorisation and apply the fundamental knowledge of algebra to compute factorisation, substitution and transposition of both linear and non-linear equations;
- analyse functions, graphs and linear relations, compute matrix algebra operations and apply the knowledge to solve practical multi-variables problems;
- apply basic trigonometry and geometry principles to solve problems and illustrate the property of function by curve sketching;
- apply the concepts learnt to solve practical problems.
Assumed Knowledge: | Students will have basic knowledge in expressing their ideas in an academic setting. |
