This subject introduces students to the theory and processes of environmental management and places these into the broader context of environmental governance, legislation and policy. Topics taught in this subject include: design and implementation of environmental policy; conservation and management planning in the context of Australian and Queensland environmental legislation; stakeholder engagement approaches, and international environmental policy. Case studies are used to demonstrate the practical implementation of environmental management systems and processes. Students at the Masters level are encouraged to pursue their specific topic interests and to develop facilitation and negotiation skills through student-led tutorials and a mock Conference of the Parties exercise.
