ED3441 - Technologies Across the Curriculum

Credit points: 03
Year: 2018
Student Contribution Band: Band 1
Administered by: College of Arts, Society & Education

The Limited offering is available to RATEP students only.

The primary goal of this subject is to foster pre-service teacher development towards the Graduate Australian Professional Standards for Teachers requirements in the context of design and technologies and digital technologies, the two distinct but related subjects of the Australian Curriculum: Technologies. Upon completion of this subject, graduate student teachers will be able to approach the teaching of technologies positively, including game design, coding and robotics, with an accurate and thorough understanding of learning experiences that critically respond to community-based priorities. Through a focus on pedagogical practices that support learning, especially through differentiated practice for diverse learners, students will develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the content and processes of technologies education including 'thinking in technologies' (design, systems and computational thinking), game based learning, project management and how the ICT General capability is used to support technologies learning. Students will explore their role in influencing learning through planning, focusing on how their teaching must be responsive to individual student's needs as they plan learning experiences that provide primary students with authentic opportunities to creating solutions, consider sustainable patterns of living and contribute to preferred futures for themselves and others
