This subject is designed to equip a clinician with the skills necessary to be able to successfully carry out clinical examinations, perform special tests, interpret data, diagnose and undertake dental implant treatment on patients. Treatment planning, surgical and prosthodontic management are covered comprehensively in addition to the ongoing maintenance of restored patients and the treatment early and late stage complications. The subject also includes a comprehensive review of the literature and the state-of-the-art giving the student the background in order to be able to critically and effectively evaluate new technologies, materials and techniques. The subject also introduces more advanced techniques including, grafting, augmentation and the applications of growth factors.
