This subject is the first of two subjects (the other being CH4512) that in combination constitute the full-year Chemical Sciences Honours degree. The Honours in Chemical Sciences program is intended for students whose undergraduate major is not necessarily in Chemistry, but who have a major in another science (or related) discipline and want to carry out a project where chemical techniques can be applied to that area. Total effort required to complete this subject is expected to be 520 hours, including supervisory meetings, experimental work, research, writing, and other work.

Available to graduates who have achieved a credit average in relevant third year subjects in an undergraduate degree at this University and have shown an ability to apply chemical ideas to their discipline. Graduates from other universities with equivalent qualifications will be considered for acceptance. Except with the approval of the Dean of College/Associate Dean, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive teaching periods.
