The diversity, evolutionary history, and biology of terrestrial vertebrates and invertebrates of Australia. This subject will cover the major animal groups in Australia, focusing on patterns of diversity, biogeography and evolutionary history in this region, and particularly interesting aspects of their natural history and behaviour.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate proficiency in handling and species identification of terrestrial vertebrates and invertebrates;
- design appropriate research activities for survey and wildlife research in Australia;
- produce scientific reports incorporating analyses of fauna survey data;
- assess the diversity of Australian vertebrates and invertebrates through appropriate survey techniques.
