Students must have completed 36 BU/BX credit points and be enrolled in their final year of study. Applications must be submitted via InPlace and must include a signed Independent Project Agreement and detailed project proposal. This process applies to students enrolled on the Townsville or Cairns campus and external students
This subject is one of three capstones offered through the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program for Business. The subject is designed for students already in paid employment where they complete a project for their workplace which is relevant to their degree and to their workplace. The Independent Project subject involves students applying knowledge from their university study to address a particular problem or industry issue in their workplace. The project should be of a student's own design but developed in consultation with workplace supervisors and should assist in developing/improving workplace skills and contribute to industry improvement. It must be authentic and must involve work not already done in the existing paid role. Students cannot self-enrol, but must apply on InPlace (inplace.jcu.edu.au) and be granted permission to enrol in the subject. Application deadlines are communicated to eligible students via their jcu email prior to the start of each study period. More information on the Business WIL options and the application process is available on the College WIL website and on the WIL in BBus Community on LearnJCU. Students should contact tes.enrolments@jcu.edu.au if unsure of their eligibility for WIL. Students at JCUB and JCUS should consult Academic Staff to discuss options.
