This subject focuses on the key role of communication as an essential business tool. It reviews key theoretical concepts as they apply to a range of communication activity, examining the factors that may influence the effects and effectiveness of different forms of communication with different stakeholder groups.
Learning Outcomes
- gain an appreciation of the value and significance of both interpersonal and intrapersonal communication with respect to successful communication in both business and social settings;
- critically evaluate communicated information and structure oral and written arguments logically, persuasively and in an unbiased professional style that conveys credibility;
- plan, prepare and design communications that have the capacity to achieve their objectives across various audiences and stakeholder groups;
- evaluate the effectiveness of different forms of communication across varying situations;
- explore the role of electronic and web based communication channels (including newer web 2.0 technologies and media) in a business context.
