This subject provides an opportunity for students to gain experience and understanding of the design processes involved in creating digital and prototype designs for public spaces. Students will gain an understanding of the restraints of working to a brief, and an understanding of available materials and processes to make work that is suitable for public spaces. In addition students will examine how designs can create a particular feeling that is suitable for a space in the tropics.

Learning Outcomes

• develop design skills while working to a design brief to create aesthetically pleasing works in public spaces that are context responsive;
• gain skills using Photoshop and in model making;
• develop an understanding of materials and processes suitable for public spaces;
• gain skills in the preparation and presentation of a design proposal for a corporate client.

Prerequisites:

Completed at least 12cp of level one subjects
