This subject introduces students to concepts and theories of conflict and violence, peace and peace building, transitional justice and reconciliation. The course considers the major actors and strategies being used in Australia and internationally in addressing issues in these fields.

We do not recommend enrolling in this subject as your very first subject at JCU, unless you are concurrently enrolled in one of the core subjects of the Grad Cert or Master of Conflict Management and Resolution, or you have been given advanced standing for the core subjects of your degree.

This subject is taught online through LearnJCU and students need to participate online throughout the whole study period. There is also an optional face-to-face workshop for skills activities. Students must engage in online learning from the first week of the study period and throughout the entire study period.
