This subject provides a critical appreciation of the historical development of the discipline of history from antiquity to the present day. It explores a diversity of ways in which the past has been apprehended and understood across a range of temporal and cultural contexts.
Learning Outcomes
- Distinguish between the diverse interpretative and theoretical perspectives available to the historian;
- Apply historiographical concepts to a research project;
- analyse and discuss contemporary historiographical debates;
- demonstrate broad knowledge and apply skills in the organisation and expression of research findings appropriate to the honours level of study.
