This subject examines major developments in world history since the beginning of the 20th century. While giving due consideration to political and economic issues, it also explores the immense social and cultural transformations that have characterised this period.
Learning Outcomes
- Analyse and compare the work of historians in order to gain insights into their theories, methodologies and preconceptions;
- Construct an historical context of the 20th century that can be used to assist the interpretation of both primary and secondary sources;
- Critique concepts that explain the relationships between diverse cultures such as globalisation, colonisation, decolonisation, and economic imperialism;
- demonstrate broad knowledge and apply skills in historical research, writing, critical thinking and problem solving.
