FR3700 - French Study-abroad Program 1

Available to any student with an appropriate level of French. Students should consult the discipline coordinator of French.

Students are required to spend two semesters abroad studying in an approved program (beginning with FR3700 in Semester 2 and continuing with FR3701 in Semester 1 of the following year). The precise content of this subject will be negotiated between staff, students and the receiving overseas institution(s). In broad terms, however, the subject will consist of an in-depth practical study of communication in the target language through interaction on a daily basis with speakers of the target language.

Learning Outcomes

• apply skills to communicate effectively in the target language;
• meet the objectives of all courses taken at the selected overseas institutions;
• reach level of social proficiency (level 4 on ISLPR scale).

Assumed Knowledge:	To undertake this subject, students must have successfully completed 12 credit points (four subjects) of level 1 study at tertiary level or successfully completed Intermediate French 2
