The subject is a basic introduction to university study skills through the framework of workplace skills and communication expectations of a professional environmental manager. The content will be structured around occupations such as environmental consultants, environmental planners and managers, policy advisors, environmental project managers, impact assessors and conservationists and rehabilitators, with emphasis on workplace activities including report writing, research skills, stakeholder engagement and presentations, funding considerations and process, tenders and grants, work schedule and time management. Study skills will also be oriented towards success in university study, through introducing students to schedule strategies, academic skills, collaboration and team work, and writing skills.
