This subject provides students with advanced knowledge and understanding about the ethical practice of educational leadership. Contemporary theories of effective leadership are examined and the elements and methods of leader development are defined. This subject focuses on a critically reflective, ethical and transformative approach to issues and practices of educational leadership. Students will identify, review, reflect on, and evaluate their leadership practices in a discontinuously globalised world.
Learning Outcomes
- The student will acquire knowledge of concepts, theories and models which underpin current successful educational leadership and management practices;
- The student will critically analyse issues and literature concerning leadership effectiveness, review and evaluation;
- The student will develop strategies for leading change in organisational processes and performance;
- The student will analyse the ethics of educational leadership;
- The student will develop a professional approach to leadership;
- The student will demonstrate advanced literacy and advocacy skills to interpret, evaluate and justify complex ideas and professional judgments to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
