Today's world is data and information intensive, but knowledge poor. In this subject students explore the computing skills required to enable basic understanding of data, information processing, and data visualisation. Students use analytic tools to model, analyse, evaluate and design business processes. Relevant themes covered include the information generation, representation, structuring, organisation, storage, retrieval, navigation, human factors in information systems, and use of information. Students also gain hands-on experience in processes and procedures in information processing and management.
Learning Outcomes
- describe information processing and management processes and techniques for IT and business context;
- appraise data and information analytics concepts and procedures;
- analyse data and interpret results to generate information for decision making;
- compare and contrast information processing tools and systems.
