Credit points: 03
Year: 2017

Administered by: College of Business, Law & Governance

While the law and sport, at one time, rarely interacted, the growth of the business of sport has seen sports law grow into a distinct and important area of law. Decided cases have also stated that Australian sport is part of a wider entertainment industry. This subject therefore involves examining what areas of law apply to the sport and entertainment industries, and how they apply. Its objectives are to provide non-law students with a background to the basic principles of the legal system and the basic principles of the areas of law that apply to the context of sport and entertainment. Upon successful completion of this subject students will have an understanding of the impact of the law on the sport and entertainment industries.
