Available to Master of Tropical Veterinary Science and Master of Tropical Animal Science students.

Available to graduate students. A multi-mode learning module, which will enable students to complete it at their own pace and primarily off campus. It is designed to teach veterinary and animal science professionals how to set out and write up a detailed research proposal that can be used for their research or for funding proposals. The student carries out an extensive review of the world literature on a selected topic and uses this to justify the project proposal

Learning Outcomes

• write a detailed research proposal;
• review the scientific literature on a particular veterinary or animal science topic;
• formulate a set of hypothesis formulate a problem statement;
• set out research objectives;
• identify benefits to the research;
• apply the correct methodology to meet the objectives of a veterinary or animal research project;
• draw up a budget for a research project;
• have an understanding of ethical issues pertaining to veterinary and animal health projects;
• have an understanding of the contractual issues related to research proposals;
• understand the importance of correct data storage understand the issues related to authorship and the defining of research outputs.
