This subject follows on from Veterinary Professional Life - 1 and AG1007. The aim of the subject is to provide students with a solid understanding of the animal and livestock industries relevant to veterinary practice. This includes grazing land management; animal welfare and ethics; the foundations of inheritance and principles underlying genetics testing; the development of skills to safely handle a range of animal species; an introduction to surgical instruments and suturing skills; and the diversity of career opportunities available to veterinarians. Included in this subject are Personal and Professional Development workshops which aim to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to practice as a veterinarian in our changing world and to equip them with the skills to succeed in this course.
