This subject covers the epidemiology, aetiology, diagnosis, management and prevention of major conditions contributing to mortality and morbidity in children living in tropical settings, including Indigenous Australian children. Whilst the majority of teaching for this subject is lecture based, there are opportunities to learn from and with peers via a group presentation, case discussions and interactive sessions throughout the course. This subject has a strong clinical focus and as such is recommended for clinicians only. It is a pre-requisite to TM5559: Clinical Tropical Paediatrics.
