Enrolment in this subject is restricted to all students enrolled in the Bachelor of Speech Pathology degree and Speech Pathology IHCAP Program (not Speech Pathology Honours students).

Clinical component: Students will participate in clinical education placements in which they will work with supervision and guidance from clinical educators. Students will work directly with clients with a range of impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions related to speech, language, voice, fluency, multimodal communication and swallowing. Students will conduct assessments, plan and deliver services for clients, as well as providing community education with increasing autonomy. A range of settings, both in the internal clinic and external facilities will be used to ensure that students develop clinical competence with a variety of clients. Students will collate evidence and reflect on clinical experiences for their portfolio. Project development: Students will select a Speech Pathology Project for SL4005 and SL4006 and commence an ethics application (if appropriate).

Assessment:assessments as follows:; portfolio of clinical experience - a collection of material demonstrating developing competency within the cbos 2011 framework (%); clinical competencies - assessment of skills in clinical practice using compass national validated assessment tool (%); successful participation in observation clinics (%); project - select a speech pathology project and submit a full draft of the ethics application (if appropriate) or equivalent document (%).
Special Assessment Requirements:This subject will be marked as a non-graded pass/fail. Students must successfully pass all components to pass this subject. Students must complete all clinical placement hours and must attend and actively participate in at least 80% of scheduled meetings and classes.
