SL1002 - Introductory Linguistics and Phonetics

This subject provides foundation knowledge about linguistics and phonetics, upon which students will build for future clinical practice. This subject focuses on the transcription and acquisition of speech sounds as well as on the analysis of the speech sound system. This subject will also introduce basic concepts of grammar.

    Assessment:end of semester exam (40%); quizzes or tests (40%); assignments (20%).
    Special Assessment Requirements:Students must achieve at least 50% in each individual weighted assessment item, and achieve at least 50% overall in order to pass the subject. Students are required to attend and actively participate in at least 80% of all scheduled classes.
