Available to psychology students who have completed three years of study and who have been accepted into level 4 of the psychology honours program. Except with the approval of the Head of School/Associate Dean, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive teaching periods
Students are required to design and conduct an independent research project that culminates in a thesis. This subject involves regular meetings with a research supervisor throughout the course of the year; participation in professional orientation and development seminars and the presentation of a paper based on the students research at an annual mini-conference.
Learning Outcomes
- exercise critical thinking and judgement in the design and conduct of scientific investigations to address complex psychological questions;
- communicate a clear, coherent, and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas through advanced written and spoken English language skills to a variety of audiences;
- use information technologies and advanced techniques to analyse, interpret, and report research findings and data and generate solutions to complex problems in psychology as evidenced through the development and conduction of a research project and writing of a thesis.
