Available to level 3 and above Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy IHCAP students. Other students enrolled in Occupational Therapy with recognised prior learning as approved by the Head of Occupational Therapy including other health postgraduate students.
This subject aims to consolidate students skills in evidence based practice, including the ability to formulate clinical questions, conduct effective literature searches, critically appraise research and determine the applicability of identified research to occupational therapy practice.
Learning Outcomes
- formulate a clinical/practice question related to OT practice;
- search and identify relevant research evidence to inform intervention;
- critically appraise research and evaluate applicability to occupational therapy practice;
- present a researched topic orally in a clear and interesting manner to peers;
- prepare a written appraisal of literature on a clinical/practice topic.

Assessment: | presentations (25%); assignments (50%); project proposal (25%). |
Special Assessment Requirements: | Students must attend and participate in 80% of all workshops. Students must obtain a pass of 50% overall to pass this subject. In addition, students must obtain 50% pass mark for final written assignment to pass the subject. Attendance at oral presentation block session is required. |
