Digital storytelling is the development and telling of stories using digital technologies. In this subject students explore aspects of story development including concept articulation, emotional content, visual and aural themes and relationships, storyboarding, production techniques, sequential composition, editing and outputs. Further investigations are made as to the place of digital story telling as applicable to educational and other settings.

Learning Outcomes

• understand the role and scope of digital storytelling;
• demonstrate an understanding of dramatic/thematic principles that underpin successful story development;
• demonstrate an ability to research, dramatise, and organise the sequential composition of materials within a storyboard as a basis for digital storytelling;
• demonstrate confidence and ability in the use of digital technologies to conceive and produce original stories via digital means;
• design a digital storytelling project suitable for educational settings.

Assessment:	multi-draft production of two digital stories (50%); assignments (15%); online contributions in learnjcu (10%); design of digital storytelling project applicable to educational settings or the creation of an original fictional story (25%).
