The subject examines the nature and dynamics of innovation in organisations and firms, economies and societies. It analyses innovation as second-order creativity. It discusses the role of innovators, innovation thinking, and innovation models. Case studies of innovation are introduced. The differences between change and innovation are explored, as is the relation between innovation, creation and productivity. Models of social, civic, aesthetic, economic, organisation, and technical innovation are explored. The roles of art and aesthetics, media and image, design and artifice in innovation processes are considered. Constraints on innovation are analysed.
Learning Outcomes

- explain central issues discussed in the innovation literature;
- critically examine innovation claims;
- critically analyse innovation problems and processes;
- create and design basic innovation solutions.
