This subject presents technical and conceptual information to assist students to create a series of original paintings, including preparation of materials for painting, application of acrylic paints, and other mediums, information about composition, the principles and elements of design, perspective, symbolism and colour relationships. Class tasks enable students to explore a diverse range of painting styles and techniques. Information about contemporary and past painting styles will be examined.
Learning Outcomes
- create original paintings that communicate ideas;
- apply knowledge of painting techniques; apply OH&S in relation to using acrylic paints and other painting mediums;
- prepare paper and canvas for painting and exhibition;
- apply symbolism, colour and composition;
- research the work of several painters and their paintings in terms of ideas, composition, techniques and aims.
