In this subject students will learn core skills in planning, production, marketing and publishing of commercial websites. Information about the principles of composition, page layout, navigation, usability and search engine optimisation will be examined. Creativity and functionality, in relation to web design will be emphasised in relation to layouts, cascading style sheets, web optimised image formats and HTML. Students will learn to plan and create websites that demonstrate the principles of design, web server technology and online marketing strategies.
Learning Outcomes
- design prototype page layouts including output of screen images for client review;
- apply high order planning and problem solving skills to direct site users and integrate site functions;
- examine use of web page optimization;
- produce web designs which show skills in appropriate page layout, and contain graphical and interactive elements which enhance the experience of the user;
- apply interface elements appropriate to different commercial interests.
