Information security covers not only confidentiality but also authentication, integrity, verifiability, and other more specific security countermeasures. The fields of information security, computer security, and information assurance are interrelated and share the common goals of protecting information, although they use different approaches. This subject is concerned with protecting information regardless of the form the information may take: electronic, print, or other forms.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the business need for information security, and the roles of professionals involved in information security within an organization;
- Understand legal, ethical, and professional issues in information security. Understand how to maintain and perpetuate risk controls. Explain information security standards, policy and practices;
- Understand firewall technology, and security tools such as intrusion detection, access control, and cryptography;
- Understand the conceptual need for physical security, and the issues related to implementing information security.
