Information visualisation is of importance in science and business serving as a means of investigation and communication. Addressed in this subject are the principles of visualisation design and techniques, visual displays, types of data plots, visual representations and decision making in relation to visualisation. Students learn how to apply this knowledge to the design of effective visualisations for diverse audiences.
Learning Outcomes
- examine the role of visualisations in various decision-making activities and communications;
- explain principles of effective and efficient visualisations;
- apply basic information visualisation concepts, techniques, and methods to produce good visualisations;
- design effective visualisations for domain specific data.
