In this subject students analyse the impact and applications of social media and related Web2.0/3.0 technologies on business with particular focus on entrepreneurship, e-marketing and human resource management. Technologies such as blogs, mashups, wikis, linked data, etc., will be examined to evaluate how social media can facilitate creativity and collective intelligence through enhanced information sharing and online collaboration. Students gain skills and experience using these social media applications to increase profit, manage well-being, enable business processes and functions and explore new business models.
Learning Outcomes
- examine collective intelligence and social network technologies and applications;
- analyse business opportunities and challenges of collective intelligence and social networks;
- examine legal, ethical and social issues related to collective intelligence and social networks;
- develop and align appropriate collective intelligence and social network technologies with business activities.
